The City Alps mission is all about training in an adventure-inspired community in the city, so that we get out there, into nature, to do the things we love. Our latest 8-week 21km training program has been designed by our City Alps coaching team with exactly that in mind: to get you ready for your (maybe first) trail running race and to build a solid trail running foundation for the season ahead. Let’s kick off 2022!
The program will start on 24 January, with the final race day on 26 March. You can create your own virtual 21km trail race or you can join the City Alps community for the 21 km Crêtes de Spa trail run in Spa, Belgium.
The program is geared towards intermediate runners (already running 5-10km, 2 to 3 times a week).
WHAT & HOW
An 8-week structured and progressive training plan (intermediate level)
Progress tracking and interaction with your coach on Final Surge
Access to the coach to ask questions at any stage throughout the program
Access to a City Alps x Salomon Trail Running workshop day on Sunday 27 Feb (uphill and downhill running technique; power hiking; testing Salomon gear and discussing all things trail-running related)
Access to a video library for pre-run mobility, trail-running specific balance, stability, strength and core workouts
A Whatsapp group for tips, tricks and weekly workout explanations
Access to the weekly City Alps Run Club sessions for stair and interval workouts (subject to latest COVID-19 measures)
A weekly pre-recorded podcast for your interval runs (a coach and motivating tunes in your ear to keep you going)
Program does not include:
Entry to Crêtes de Spa Trail Run - entries open in Jan 2022 and you will have to enter yourselves!
Weekend away in Spa for the race. Once numbers are confirmed, we will give suggestions for team accommodation and travel arrangements.
Salomon workshop 27 Feb: travel and lunch, snacks and drinks for the day - we will be heading to the Dutch hills!
