About the Event

At the end of June (date TBC), we will be hosting our first City Alps training camp in Lucca, Italy. It's a trip that will follow the 8-week ‘Climb like a Pro’ training program that we hope to run in the studio in May and June before leaving the lowlands and heading to some proper climbs.

You can expect some tough cycling days, but, as always with City Alps, there will be plenty of room for fun vibes, good food and wine and adventuring through the Tuscan Hills.

The aim is to have two groups based on pacing and training history (you don't have to join the ‘Climb like a Pro’ training program to join the trip, but it is strongly recommended) and we will be lead by guides (possibly from the under 23 professional Qhubeka Assos cycling team) for 2 of the 4 cycling days. There are 3 team ride days and 1 free day to ride some more or other.

Day 1: ‘Explore’ - pro guided day out to get a feel for the surrounds and loosen up the legs (+-100kms, with some decent elevation).

Day 2: ‘Climb, climb, climb’ day - we will tackle the famous climb of Monte Serra that Lance Armstrong, Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis and Jan Ulrich used to compare their times on. Tough City Alps day (+-80 kms, elevation tbc). This is where we test ourselves a bit and the reason for all the ‘Climb like a Pro’ training.

Day 3: ‘Tour’ - Pro guided long day out. All about the area, the food and the experience, time in the saddle to earn those carbs and take in that scenery (+- 150km).

Day 4: ‘Sunday Fun Day’ - free day. Whatever fun looks like for you! Your day, your call.

The charming villa, currently used as a base by pro cycling Team Qhubeka Assos, is conveniently situated at the bottom of the Monte Serra in the hilly and olive grove heart of Tuscany. Enjoy your free (recovery) time at the private swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful garden full of lime trees, or sneak in a game of tennis (for those who have some energy left to burn).
