SOCIAL SWIM CLUB
LED BY IPEK ALTAN

Marine Terrein, Amsterdam

Monday's 19:00

Friday's 13:00

We are super excited to launch the Wild Swim Club, and we feel very lucky and grateful to have Ipek captaining it! These swim sessions will be social but cater more for our intermediate City Alps swimmers (so totally fine if you have not swum in awhile and are looking to build it up, but you need to be comfortable and confident swimming in open water. There are no lifeguards on duty and, as strong as Ipek is, its not her responsibility to pull anyone out of the water - as you would expect its own risk, so please be responsible).

The sessions will focus on the fundamentals and skills that will transfer well to most triathlons. The swim of the Day (SOD) on Monday's will be intervals based on time (similar to power/peak RIDE classes) - for example X times 100s, 150s, 50s for 30 minutes, depending on the day. These are great for increasing speed, patience and understanding of your capabilities. And the SOD on Friday's will have more of an endurance focus - low HR, focusing more on technique, bilateral breathing etc. These classes are for City Alpers only for now.

Message from Ipek:

"What you need to bring: a swimsuit, wetsuit (optional), goggles, swim cap & towel are the essentials. If you have a wetsuit, definitely bring vaseline to protect your neck and other friction areas. I highly recommend a bathrobe and warm socks on colder days (anything below 17-18 degrees outside will feel really cold once we're out). I usually also try to take some tea in an insulated cup if I think it'll be cold once we're out of the water. Please keep in mind sometimes our sessions will be dependent on how crowded the water is, and due to guidelines, we might not always be able to 'over-take' people in the water, which will slow you down but that's okay. I think accepting this from the beginning helps everyone a lot :) "
