Program Overview
POWER AND SPEED is an 8-week indoor ride program at City Alps designed for riders of all levels who want to feel stronger, quicker, and more confident on the bike.
This program focuses on short, sharp, wattage-based efforts that build leg strength, sprint speed, and explosive power. Classes use controlled anaerobic intervals and brief, high-resistance efforts to develop strength and speed in a way that feels challenging but achievable. With simple performance testing built into week one and week eight, you’ll be able to clearly see and feel your progress by the end of the program.
Why Start the Year With Power & Speed?
While endurance is an important foundation, Winter often means less time, colder days, and lower energy. POWER AND SPEED is a time-efficient way to get moving again, with just two focused sessions per week that deliver real bang for your buck. Short, powerful efforts help wake the legs up, rebuild strength, and feel energizing rather than draining, making it easier to get back into a routine and start 2026 feeling strong, motivated, and confident on the bike.
What This Program Focuses On
This block is intentionally designed to improve:
• Leg strength
• Sprint speed
• Short-duration power
• Acceleration and responsiveness
• Confidence riding with resistance
The Two Sessions

Session 1: Climb Efforts (CL)

Duration: up to 3 minutes per effort

Focus: Mix of attack sprints and low-RPM seated climbs

Goal: Strengthen the quads and improve climbing power

Session 2: Sprint Work (SP)

Focus: High RPM sprints, both in and out of the saddle

Goal: Develop explosive power and speed

Program Structure
• 8 weeks total
• February 2 – March 29
• 2 dedicated Power & Speed Block ride classes per week
Each program class is offered multiple times across the week, giving you flexibility to choose the days and times that work best for your schedule.
You’re welcome to add endurance classes in between as we’ll continue our usual weekly training at the studio. Any additional classes are completely optional if you’d like extra training volume. You have unlimited access to all of our classes. See below for the first 4-week schedule.

Built-In Performance Testing
To track progress in a simple, motivating way, testing is included directly inside the programmed classes:
Week 1
• 1-minute anaerobic power test
• 15-second max watts sprint
Week 8
• The same tests repeated to clearly measure progress
