This Summer, we keep the intensity with RIDE classes indoors and then get outside for easier rides, runs, swims and strength training. That is, after all, what our adventure-inspired community is all about. Here is what's happening at City Alps this Summer
A 45-minute indoor RIDE session during your lunch break on a Monday and Wednesday. These classes will be short, sharp and highly effective for our time-crunched City Alpers.
STRENGTH OUTDOORS (45min)
Durability, durability, durability. Please don't skip these functional strength and/or plyometric sessions. For Outdoor Strength classes, we meet at City Alps and for the Mountain-Fit classes, we meet in Oosterpark at the kids splash pool opposite the Muziekkoepel. We always have a rain plan too so just show up.
SOCIAL RIDE & RUN CLUB
We are introducing a weekly 40km out-ride + coffee (Thursday morning, 06:30 AM) and a 12km run + coffee (Friday morning, 07:00 am), both starting from Coffee Bru on Beukenplein. Every week, we will stick to the same route for both the ride (see gpx here) and run (see gpx here), so that everyone gets to know the loop and can choose to do it at their own pace.
RUN: TUESDAY HILLS &
Sunrise hills every Tuesday morning - a 'must' for our trail running team, followed by 10 minutes of 'mountain legs' strength training. These sessions will be lead by Georgia and/or Dayne.
Thursdays Track sessions - Speed sessions and technique with Stach around the Flevopark track, followed by 5 minutes of core.
INDOOR RIDES: MORE PEAK AND POWER CLASSES, PLUS NEW THEMED COMMUNITY INDOOR RIDES & TESTING DAYS
For those cycling outdoors and following a polarised training approach (the way to go for the time-rich athletes), we're going to focus more on POWER and PEAK indoors to accommodate training intensity distribution. Hard(er) intervals indoors, easy rides outdoors = endurance gains this Summer.
We have decided to make the 'Climb Like a Pro' RIDE class a CA community-only ride on Wednesday mornings and to introduce a new fun-themed CA community-only ride on Friday afternoon at 4pm with Ipek (followed by an optional - if you need it at the end of the week - beer). A fun way to kick off the weekend!!
MONDAY MORNING OPEN WATER SWIM TRAINING
Start your week in the best possible way with open water swimming training WOD in a beautiful setting with coach Ipek. We will meet at Marineterrein as soon as the water temperature is at an acceptable wetsuit-free temperature. A must for our triathletes.
